Professor Deborah E. Ajakaiye
Professor Deborah E. Ajakaiye, one of the board members of Dunia Oil and Technical Services was born in Nigeria and studied at the University College, Ibadan, Nigeria. She graduated with an honors degree in Physics from the University of London, England and a Masters degree in Applied Geophysics from the University of Birmingham, England. Her Ph.D. is from Ahmadu Bello University where she lectured for several years and also served as Professor and Head of Department of Physics. She also served as Chairman of several important academic research committees (e.g. Committee of Deans for all science Faculties in Nigeria)
The Professor rendered various consulting services which includes:
- Rendered technical services of the largest petroleum companies including Amoco, Mobil, and Chevron in USA and Nigeria using gravity, magnetic and reflection seismic data to identify favourable prospects.
- Have been consulted on a variety of prospects involving exploration and mining of minerals and groundwater and also issues pertaining to natural and environmental hazards
- Served as a consultant to various United Nations initiatives in Africa. Most of these assignments involved the development of basic sciences and technology and research in African universities and technical colleges.
Some of the current and past research areas of Professor Ajakaiye are:
- Crustal structure for petroleum exploration deduced from seismic and sequence stratigraphy, as well as gravity and magnetic data.
- Geo-dynamic and tectonic studies including seismicity
- Geophysical prospecting for mineral and groundwater
- Authored and co-authored 8 books and monographs, and over 100 major reports and publications in international scientific journals
